Directed by Rachid Bourchard and released in 2006, the film follows the lives of four soldiers of the 3rd Algerian Army as they fight the horrific battles of the Vosges Mountains while facing extreme discrimination. It propelled the French presidents to reinstate the pensions of the living soldiers or their families that had been frozen when Algeria declared its independence.
